Donkey Rescue Centre

Donkey Shelter Inc. was founded by Dr. May Dodd to help orphaned, abandoned, suffering and mistreated donkeys. It opened in August 1997, and is located on 28 acres in Diamond Creek, which is approximately 20 kilometres north of Melbourne. The land on which the Shelter is located is privately owned by May, and is provided by her at no cost to the Shelter.

The lucky donkeys that are brought here are cared for by volunteers and from what I have been told these beautiful animals are much loved and cared for by the loyalists that do what they do for the love of donkeys….more earth angels I say…..

I hope you will take the time to check out  the rescue centre’s webpage and maybe you to can share some love with these gorgeous creatures….I would like to thank Shirley and Jimmy Gray for taking these pictures for me.

Dudleys Story

Dudley was born at the Shelter on Sunday 28th October 2007.

His mother Hermione was pregnant when she was rescued and brought to the shelter. She was at risk to give birth as she was only 2 years old. Dudley and his mum were rushed to hospital soon after birth when it was feared the lives of both animals may be in danger.

Happily Dudley is perfect and both he and his mum are well.
